About Survival App Guide

We're an independent guide to the apps that help people prepare — for the storm, the outage, or the just-in-case. We install everything, live with it, and rank only what earns a place.

A well-stocked, organized emergency pantry used for testing

Every app we rank is tested against a real, stocked pantry.

Preparedness is full of noise: endless lists, affiliate dumps, and apps that promise the world and track nothing. We started Survival App Guide to cut through it with hands-on, opinionated reviews you can actually act on.

How we test

Every app in a roundup is installed and used in real conditions: stocking a real pantry, scanning real barcodes, and running a power-out weekend. Scores out of 10 weigh five things:

  1. Readiness. Does it tell you how long you'd actually last, or just store a list?
  2. Tracking. Quantities, expiration dates and rotation, handled correctly.
  3. Offline & privacy. Does it work with no signal, and respect your data?
  4. Speed & polish. How fast is it to add items, and how pleasant to live in?
  5. Value. What you get free versus paid, and whether the upgrade is worth it.

Why Stockpile is our current #1

Across dozens of apps, one job kept going unmet: telling you, honestly, how many days you're ready for and keeping your supplies rotated before they expire. Stockpile: Prepper Pantry is the only app we tested that does both well and fully offline, so it tops our best prepper apps ranking. Rankings are reviewed as apps update and as new ones launch.

Independence & disclosure

Apps cannot pay for placement or a higher score; rankings are our editorial judgment, full stop. Survival App Guide is reader-supported: some outbound links may earn us a commission at no cost to you, which keeps these reviews free and lets us keep testing. If our opinion of an app changes, the ranking changes with it.
